The West Georgia Underwater Archaeological Society is a an organization that seeks to educate the public about underwater resources.

NUMA (National Underwater and Marine Agency) is a non-profit organization created by Clive Cussler (author of numerous fictional novels about underwater archaeology and discoverer of the Hunley) and named after the organization featured in his books. The organization is funded by Cussler's royalties.
